Don’t get me wrong - it’s a decent book especially for a debut novel. But, with that being said, I have to recognise that this was not for me - a lot of it felt too… artificial? In a sense? Where it took me out of the story to the point where the actions of Cal actually confused and somewhat irritated me at times. Personally, I found the pacing off too - a lot of very big things happen that seem to get automatically resolved over a very limited amount of pages.
Again, i stress it’s not a bad book - however, it also probably won’t be one I pick up to reread again soon, nor would it be one I’d recommend to my friends to go out and read at all costs.
