AHHH it’s the middle of June and this is my first five star book of the year - I am so happy I finally picked this up!
It is soooo good! I stayed up much too late reading it because I didn’t want to leave the world the author created.
This book has beautiful discussions of love (in all different forms), grief, growing up and becoming who you are and want to be. This book had me giggling and crying (and I have not cried because of a book in a very long time). This book gave me all the feels!
While I didn’t think there were really plot twists in the book because it was sort of predictable what would happen (like the end result), the way things unfolded was unexpected and kept me turning the pages to see how things would happen. Perhaps that’s a metaphor for life?
I didn’t realize before reading this that this book takes place in the same universe as the author’s previous book “The Dead Romantics.” I did a soft-DNF of that book a few months ago, but after reading and LOVING “The Seven Year Slip” I’m excited to pick up the previous book and to continue to read more of Ashley Poston’s work.

I wasn't expecting this book to hit me so hard in the feels 🥺
This is a cute story about a girl, Clementine, trying to find herself amid loss, family heartbreak, and young-adulthood... and she happens to live in an apartment that sends her back in time seven years, with no rhyme or reason into when it happens. Only that it happens during important moments in her life and the time shift will collide with whoever is living in the apartment at that time. (Enter Iwan.)
Iwan is an adorable and cozy love interest to read. Him and Clementine's story is adorable, heart warming, and has you guessing the whole time when their lives will intersect - but at many times also comes together almost too easy.
The true magic of this story is in all the ways that there lives intersect in moments and people outside of the apartment. It gets you rooting for them to finally catch up to the same time and makes the build up of the end of the story that much more meaningful.I was surprised to find myself so emotional during the moment Iwan walks out out the door when he moves out of the apartment. And don't even get me started on the moment when her aunt walked through the door 😭. I was almost thankful their interaction didn't go further and we didn't see that conversation play out, because I would have been a wreck.
Speaking of, the relationship Clementine has with her aunt and her friends is so much the heart of this book. It's such an emotional and meaningful journey through grief, friendship, and the journey of who you always thought you would be vs. who you actually grow into as an adult. I was really surprised by this part of the book - it ended up being so much more than I thought it would be. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and heart-warming read 💛

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a beautiful story of timing and growth and self discovery, while also navigating grief and loss and being lost amidst it all. I loved our Lemon girl so so much, especially her quirks & courage, that most of us girls can relate to learning to embrace through the years. And Iwan, with his charm & his journey to discovering the strength of being yourself; how could these two be any more loveable? And that doesn’t include all of the other incredibly filled out characters, especially of the older women and their impact. I will say no more. A story of love, friendship, & journeying home to oneself & their heart, this novel made me laugh, cry, & kick my feet. I know this will be a story I keep with me for years to come & look forward to my future adventures back to this book.
