When a meme starts going around a small fishing town the local high schoolers join in sharing what they think the most terrifying way to die would be. They never expect to start dying in that very same way. The deaths are getting too close to home for Izzy and she can’t help but try to unravel the mystery on her own.

I love when I finish a book and it ends on a note that makes me go back and reread the last page again. Which was exactly what this book did. It's definitely YA slasher type vibes but there is also a massive mystery of who the k!ller is.

I wouldn’t say it’s the best thriller ever but it was a super quick read and the ending is gonna stick with me for a while. If you like YA thrillers I recommend checking this one out!

Just like the other two books I’ve read by this author, the ending brought it down from 5 stars to 4. I was kind of expecting it to have a cliffhanger ending because both The Twin and The Lake have endings like that, but this was probably the one that needed closure the most of ur of the three. It was great and I was enjoying it and anxious for what was going to happen until the literally last page and there was a plot twist, but nothing came after. I was kind of suspicious of the character that ended up being the killer, but I wasn’t too sold on him and rather on another person. But wow, that was great until the last page. Definitely needs a second book, it feels almost illegal that a thriller can end the way that did.

Anyway, I liked the characters, they didn’t have a lot too them though and I wasn’t sure if I knew a whole lot about any of them. But they were fine, nothing special. Good book, and I’ll probably end up reading a few more of Preston’s thrillers because the build up is great, even though the endings fall flat. It might make up for what’s lost in the endings lol

I really enjoyed this book. It was the perfect read for Halloween/Spooky season. I liked the viral meme premise which made anyone who reposted it a potential victim. My description of this book would be if the movie Scream was a YA horror novel. I know some readers didn't like the ending but I actually liked it. I think especially in the horror genre, the story doesn't have to be wrapped up perfectly at the end. I loved how the snowstorms added to the suspense and thrill. I was definitely on the edge of my seat a few times. The main character, Izzy, was written perfectly and her teenaged curiosity and constantly overthinking and analyzing things really added to the frenzy and hysteria.
