it was a good book, i feel like there wasn’t a lot of thought for the reader to have on their own. it was mostly just taking in all of the words on the page

I enjoyed the unique premise of this book but i thought everything else about it was predictable.

This book read like a bad episode of Criminal Minds. It has it all. Weird m.o, incompetent local police, backstory of child abuse to justify murdering people, and cringey millennial humor. “I’d rather be at Hogwarts” is an actual line in this book. The actual concept of people dying by their worst fears is interesting (and also a plot from an actual episode of Criminal Minds). I so badly wanted to root for the main character to figure out who’s behind the murders but the “i’m not like other girls” vibe made it impossible. The only thing I had left to look forward to was the big plot twist ending and even that fell a little short.

I like the other Preston books better. I’d definitely not read this one again. The writing is not the greatest but it does have a good plot and ending. Just a little cringe sometimes.
