I think this would have been an especially helpful read at a different point in my personal journey - it shows many different ways to “land” spiritually and successfully combats the view that one’s options are fundamentalism or atheism. These journeys were really powerful and I was thankful for the several that put words to the experiences of grief and isolation that can follow deconstructing or similar shifts in faith. I’d love to see an “updated” version of this and hear more stories from people who have been impacted by all the cultural moments in the states in recent years, as I think some of these stories were just old enough or removed enough from my own context that it left something to be desired for me, but nonetheless I found all of these stories inspiring and helpful to read.
This was a very interesting collection of life stories from a number of different and varied people who left behind the world of Christian fundamentalism. There were interesting parallels in the stories but more interesting was the unique take and experience people had of things. What I liked the best about the stories was seeing where the people at ended up or where they were currently headed in their lives.
