I have tried to read 4 Katee Robert books and this is the first I've been able to get more than a chapter into.
I love her premises. She has ideas that make erotica seem fun and fantastical. The idea of what this series is really is fun to me. I like the different kingdoms and the bargains.
I thought that the Smitty bits were better than average. The dirty talk was especially nice. And the idea of being haunted by former abuse is something I have literally thought a million times so I really was touched by that inclusion.
But the same problems I always have with this authors work kind of cropped up. It felt super rushed. I felt like the characters had a good base but no meat to them. The setting was interesting in grand terms but not very explored even on an immediate level.
I probably won't continue with the series even though I am sort of interested in what happens because I just feel like I will end up disappointed.
