book was @ a 3 out of 5 throughout the whole thing. then last minute turned into a 4! loved that ending. maybe overall a true 3.5 - I have never wanted half stars so bad on goodreads
definitely not my favorite coho book, but not my most disliked either. samson was v cute and wholesome. but I haaaaated beyah. the way she treated ppl, how private and was about her mothers passing & her scholarship. I understand she wasn’t close w her dad, but she doesn’t tell them til damn near the end
also am I the only one who felt bad for poor pj?? poor pup just gets left outside each night

I think I’m down with CoHo now. Read at your own risk
I loved this book so much, I finished it in a single sitting. My brain simply refused to go to sleep until I finished the story, and it was so worth it!
Colleen Hoover has become one of those authors whose books I will buy without hesitation. I don't even need to read the synopsis anymore; just seeing her name on the title is enough for me.

Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover is a novel I went into with high hopes as a long-time CoHo fan. While there were things I genuinely enjoyed, it didn’t quite hit the mark the way some of her other books have. The characters were likable. Beyah and Samson had great chemistry, and I appreciated their individual backstories and the way their relationship developed. The premise had a lot of potential: two broken people from vastly different worlds meeting by chance and forming an unexpected connection. That kind of setup is classic CoHo and usually delivers an emotional punch. But this time, the emotional depth just wasn’t there for me. The story felt a bit surface-level, and I found myself wanting more complexity, especially when it came to the characters’ growth and the exploration of their trauma. The plot itself was plausible, and there were a few nice moments, but overall it was pretty predictable. I kept waiting for that signature CoHo twist or gut-punch moment, and it never really came. That said, it’s still an easy, enjoyable read with a sweet romance at its core, it just didn’t stay with me the way her best books do. Solid, but not unforgettable. 3.5 broken hearts: 💔💔💔.5

Talk all the trash you want about CoHo, but this book was great. What it lacked in intellectual complexity it made up for in emotional complexity. So much food for thought here.
