Great setting and interesting mystery, with as strong female heroine. I don't think I enjoyed it enough to continue the series despite being entertaining at the time.

Interesting premise, less than masterful execution. The characters  were bland and in the effort to make the protagonist seem like the smartest one around, everyone else is almost buffoon-like in comparison. The dialogue was oddly paced. Everything lined up too conveniently- the protagonist takes several stupid risks that would likely have killed a minor character, but everything works out for her in the end. I  pushed through this book in the hope that it would get better and was sorely disappointed.

The lost apothecary meets lessons in chemistry. It was definitely slow in the beginning, i couldn’t really binge read It, I’d have to take breaks. But that doesn’t meet i wasn’t interested in what i was reading, i really did want to know what happens. I was also invested in the flirtation between Saffron and Alexander.
