Believe when I say I was trying, but there’s nothing that seem worth it for me with this book, it’s uselessly so long😩

Because of my fascination with the omegaverse I was willing to give this book a try, understanding it would be different from what I formally know as an alpha/omega dynamic. From what I understand Fury is one of many novels that paved the way for what we know as omegaverse today. We can thank wonderful authors like Laurann Dohner for her unique novels that aided into a just as unique trope of paranormal romance.

As for the novel, it was bit of a rocky read near the second half. The prologue is very well done. The brief world building and current drastic situation sucked me in, had me needing to know what happens next. The next few chapters didn't disappoint, giving me so much delicious tension between Fury (formally known as 416) and Ellie. At this point my interest gained a lot of traction within the story and its progression.

It was past the midway point when my interest began to falter. It felt as though Dohner had lost interest herself, slapping sentences together without caring if they made sense. The characters began to repeat themselves, saying the same declarations over and over until it was practically beating a dead horse.
SpoilerEvery time Fury angrily roars "mine" when referring to Ellie, it slowly lost its value. It just became words, followed by an eye-rolling "again?". I get it, Fury is obsessed with Ellie, he wants to claim her, mate her, own her, but for a few long chapters he's just screaming this into the void while everyone else just nods their heads. It's as if he's throwing temper tantrums rather than fighting for his right to mate her. It wasn't until the last few chapters when we actually see him put his declarations into action.

There were several chapters where nothing really seemed to happen, only minor inconveniences that were predictably resolved. The beginning half is fast paced, filled with promising enemies-to-lovers conflict that really gripped me to read on. The second half poorly disappointed me, to the point I almost dropped it without caring how it ended
Spoiler but I pressed on because I still needed to know if Ellie miraculously got pregnant.

Overall, I wouldn't read this again. I have respect for this novel because of the waves it helped create but other than that it was a boring read up to the end. It didn't live up to its potential.

Just didn't want to continue. I wasn't attached to any of the characters and all the attempted rapes made me not want to finish it.

I admit that I put this book off for a long time. All the comparisons to Lora Leigh's Breeds series put me off, because I just can not with all the mating heat "fuck or die" plots, or all the clenching, creaming, burning, and icky sounding sex.

But I really enjoyed Fury. This man is almost as much animal as he is man, and very possessive. I did get a bit tired of his anger at the beginning, even once the situation with Ellie had been explained to him. Then, it felt like the romance skipped a few steps, from " I want to kill you!" to "lets live together, MINE", to love.

All in all though, I thought this was a pretty well written world, one I didn't even wait to get back to, as I started the next book in the series almost as soon as I finished Fury.

Started out so strong, but became fluffy, weak, and boring in the end. Still, a worthwhile read, however, particularly if you like your Alpha-type males and steamy love scenes. I like this author's work, overall (guilty pleasure), so I *will* be reading the next book in the series, as the lead characters in that one (secondary characters in this one) have piqued my interest.

Why is it necessary to have so much SA talk and themes? I don't think it is crucial to the story.
