I still enjoy this book after many years.
I am a bit more aware & picky on my reading & in this last year or so, I've been re-reading a lot, & the majority of books that where once 4/5* for me, now I can't stand them (often cringy, without going into details).
This one has been a surprise, I remember it not being my favorite of this series, but enjoying it, and I still stand by that.
Don't expect great things, or a masterpiece of literature.
But it was, what I like to call, a good sunday afternoon reading (even though it's not sunday - close enough) - a easy compeling one-sitting read.

3 star read, some mildly 😬 descriptions that may or may not be describing diverse characters because...genetic manipulation or something. When talking about someone looking like they have "Native American" ancestry because of skin color but that they're supposedly too tall and broad to be solely NA... who on EARTH would assume Germanic ancestry instead of Pacific Islander. Answer: White ladies. I realize that she's trying to describe someone as multiracial but she didn't do a good job. I've read WAY WORSE, but it was not good. At least it wasn't racist. The rest of the story was quick, building up the overarcing skulduggery of the series, typical genetic experiments escape their masters and find Twue Wuv type of story that I really enjoy.
ETA: pay attention to the content warnings, there's some...dubious bits.

Sooo good! I absolutely love the characters and how much we get to know even the side characters. Can’t wait to read another!
There is knotting and growling and many sex scenes. There is rape and dubcon but it is treated as such and not glorified.
