A cool story with a likeable main character and a great ending.I have wanted to read this book for such a long time and finally got a copy. I'm so glad I did. This is a simple, but amazing children's book. Highly recommend to children and adults alike, male and female.

I was beyond thrilled when I found out I won a copy of this book from This Book That Book. The Paper Bag Princess is one of my favorite books. It is such a simple story that is so splendidly told.

The 40th anniversary edition is absolutely beautiful, complete with a double-sided jacket with continuous cover art on the inside. There is A Note to Readers from [a:Chelsea Clinton|1432092|Chelsea Clinton|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1535462879p2/1432092.jpg], a short article called, "Stand Up to Dragons" by [a:Francesca Segal|5081840|Francesca Segal|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1329268235p2/5081840.jpg], and a wonderfully-written origin story written by Ann and Robert Munsch. All of these highlight Elizabeth's strength and encourage us all to be a little more like her.

I love the large pages of this hardcover edition, which create a lovely canvas for the fantastic illustrations. This is such an amazing story and a phenomenal edition. A perfect book for children of all ages. I am so happy to add this treasured classic to my collection.

I'd heard lots of references to this book, but had never read it. An excellent short story for young readers about what defines a princess.

Princess Elizabeth was set to marry Prince Roland until a dragon burned down the castle and took Roland away. Left with nothing to wear but a paper bag, Princess Elizabeth outsmarts the dragon to rescue Prince Roland. Roland reveals his true colors when he declares that Elizabeth can't possibly be a real princess in her current ragged state, and Elizabeth avoids a horrible marriage to a disgusting boy.

"Roland," said Elizabeth, "your clothes are really pretty and your hair is very neat. You look like a real prince, but you are a bum."

Amusing book with a positive message.

One of the best twisted fairy tales...a feminist gem.

I normally wouldn't log picture books, but let me tell you - I have had to read this story that many times this year to my toddler, that I could recite the book in my sleep. An absolute classic by one of Canada's greatest storytellers, I have read the Abridged Board Book version, the full version, the full version but could fit pocket, watched the Bunch of Munsch version where the dragon raps, and heard the audiobook version that is narrated by Munsch himself, and includes the Mission Impossible theme song. I have spent as much time reading this book as I have full adult novels, and you know what? It's better than most of them. Just because it's a kids book, doesn't mean it's not fun as hell and a true classic.

She's clever and he's a jerk. Oh, and there's a dragon.

I got this from the library because it was on some Buzzfeed list of feministy children's books, and I'd never read it. It took me 45 seconds to read it (which means I'm going to have to up my reading goal by one because I feel like I'm cheating), but it was so great! Princess saves herself and then the prince is like ugh you're all ashy and she's like LATER. Good job, Munsch. Good job. I would like to shake your hand.

Elizabeth is a great heroine! Loved this book!
