A fantastic companion to the Goon Squad. The speculative elements were intriguing, and the characters were complex enough to let the reader relish in their interactions and network of connections. I think the tech components were great in this book, but the character work was better in Goon Squad. All in all, a fun universe to explore, and what a plethora of perspectives to explore it through.

I couldn't get into this book.  I liked the concept.  I might retry in the future when I'm in a better headspace

compared to goon squad, it wasn’t as impactful as i wanted it to be :( struggled to connect with these characters and also i think my least fav chapter of goon squad was the last one where this futuristic technology comes into play. so I guess it’s not surprising that the theme of candy house didn’t completely grab me. tho it did give me a lot to think about re our current social media & tech advancements, it maybe ultimately was just a little too speculative for my personal tastes.

It takes a whole lotta genius to write such a book.

Maybe one day I will own a paperback version of this and annotate and map the chapters all up and give this book the well deserved 5 star.

“But knowing everything is too much like knowing nothing; without a story, it’s all just information”

No 2 chapters lead you to the same destination, but somehow the book just keeps you connected.

interesting read, but hard to keep track of the characters but could have been bc I read as an audio book. Overall, loved the themes and characters. Will read the first one!
