This book is expertly written and incredibly depressing. Kingsolver leans into every negative aspect and stereotype of the opioid epidemic and impoverished rural Appalachian communities. Everything that could go wrong does, and in devastating fashion. It became extremely predictable, and you were just waiting for the inevitable outcome to play out.
