"The House was a puzzle inside an enigma inside a mystery, for it encompassed silences, each one different, and beds, each a different size, some having lids."

This is the story of a House that has existed for centuries, slowly evolving, and the Family that has lived there for almost as long, as all its members arrive at Halloween from around the globe, under the earth, and over the winds for a grand Homecoming. Reminiscent of the Addams family, but with more poetry and mystery (as well as one cat, one mouse, and one spider).

It's official: I'm thoroughly in love with Ray Bradbury's work.

Toiset kirjat syntyvät nopeasti, toisia haudutellaan sitten vähän pidempään. From the Dust Returned sai alkunsa 1940-luvulla kirjailijan ollessa vain parikymppinen kloppi. Ray Bradbury kirjoitti omalaatuisia tarinoita Elliottien kummallisesta perheestä.

From the Dust Returned on novellikokoelma, jossa Bradbury esittelee sukua kuin omaansa. Varsinkin Halloweenin alla From the Dust Returned on herkullinen kirjallinen välipala. (6.5.2010)

Classic Bradbury. I can’t think of autumn reading without Bradbury being secured hand in hand.

Then I skipped through From the Dust Returned by Ray Bradbury in a few hours, which felt much like going for a sprint after a very long, very cramped car trip. It's a novel, but it's put together from a variety of short stories he wrote at various times, so sometimes it does feel a bit cobbled-together. I admit that most of the Bradbury I've read that has been published after 2000 hasn't been quite, quite as good, but it's still so excellent that it's well worth one's time.
