To Tame a Cowboy is the third novel in Jody Hedlund's Colorado Cowboys series. I have previously read book one, [b:A Cowboy for Keeps|53910961|A Cowboy for Keeps (Colorado Cowboys, #1)|Jody Hedlund|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1593125954l/53910961._SY75_.jpg|84262680] and book two, [b:The Heart of a Cowboy|56973149|The Heart of a Cowboy (Colorado Cowboys, #2)|Jody Hedlund|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1614215557l/56973149._SY75_.jpg|89117755] and this one might be my favorite! If you haven't read any of these books, I think you can read this one first and go back and read books one and two. You can also read them all in order if that is your preference.

Brody's story is gritty. He's back from the Civil War and dealing with his anger, disappointments, nightmares, and rage. Underneath the layers of trouble, he longs for peace. The only moments of calm are taming wild horses and bonding with his niece. When runaway veterinarian Savannah appears in town, she also brings a sense of calm to Brody.

I loved the deep emotions in this installment of Colorado Cowboys. People are many layered and it's not always daisies and rainbows in romantic fiction. Sometimes it's snowstorms and rough roads. Enjoy this one, readers. I am already looking forward to the next installment called [b:Falling for the Cowgirl|60324179|Falling for the Cowgirl (Colorado Cowboys, #4)|Jody Hedlund|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1646026109l/60324179._SY75_.jpg|95101617].

I was thrilled to finally get Brody's story! :) I love Savannah's heart and how she uses her methods for 'taming" horses to guide her with Brody. I actually preferred Linnea's story even more. <3 But I have a feeling Ivy's will be quite the fantastic ride! I'm so glad she gets a book!

Liked it but didn’t love it. Still a good book and couldn’t put it down.
It was well written but the story just didn’t draw me in the way I expected it to.

Who doesn’t love a handsome, brooding cowboy.

Brody is still troubled from his experience in the Civil War. He hides behind his temper and often uses his fist instead of his words.

Savannah, who has always dreamed of being a veterinarian, runs away from home to escape an arranged marriage.

When these two meet, everyone can see the change in Brody. He and Savannah have an instant connection. She slowly peels away his layers of rage and brings out the gentle, caring man that’s been hiding! She may save him but he saves her right back! The cabin…

This is a touching story about learning how to live again without regrets of the past. I love the parallels drawn between Brody’s need for healing and the wild mustangs. I enjoyed Savannah’s good natured character and her positive outlook on life. I loved see Brody’s interaction with his niece.
This was a great addition to the Colorado Cowboy series. Can’t wait to read Ivy’s story.

Well Darling, there’s a new favorite in town! I knew I was going to love Brody’s story, but I never dreamed it would be so, so good! A broken, broody, emotionally wounded, physically scarred soldier that is consumed with guilt and anger, that finds solace, peace, and calm in taming wild horses….HELLO, what could be better?! And Savannah, with her wise words and comforting and healing ways, is the compass Brody needs to find his way back from the nightmares and darkness. Let’s not forget a romance that is hotter than surface of the sun! That tension is tighter than the bark on a tree. I totally got some Jim Craig from Snowy River vibes when Brody is breaking in the wild horses. The patience and tenderness he displays is such a stark contrast to his explosive temper and lightening quick anger. Oh, how I love that man! Savannah sees him, she sees through the pain, the anger, and she helps Brody to heal in his own way and time. Super sweet and super, super swoony. Might be the swooniest cowboy book I’ve have ever read! And the audio is terrific! Shew-wee! Have mercy!

She hooks you in right away and gives you a hootin', tootin' good time.

Side Notes
• I liked Brody and his character development/spiritual journey. So far, he's my favorite sibling.
• The characters actually prayed more and had a relationship with God, so that was cool.
• I guess all the MC females in this series have to be THE MOST beautiful in all the land
• I thought the hanging/ending was crazy and not super necessary, but whatever.
