Lincoln Rhyme seems to have met his match this time, going up against the "Coffin Dancer", so called because of the tattoo he has. The Coffin Dancer has killed police in the past and Lincoln knows he won't hesitate to do so again. Because of this, he is a bit nervous sending his protege, Amelia Sachs, after him. There have been 3 witnesses to a suspected mob money laundering operation and a mid-air plane crash might be related. Rhyme and Sachs have only 45 hours until a grand jury sits to keep the remaining two witnesses safe. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and had a really good number of plot twists and turns.

The team tracks a professional killer and I was so close to quitting in the middle. It got kind of boring. I'm really glad I stuck it out though. The twist was very satisfying.

I'm really enjoying the Lincoln Rhyme series. This is the second in the series so there is a nice subplot tracking the romance between Rhyme and Sachs. Another creepy villain that kept me guessing.

It’s better than the bone collector. The twists are reasonable and characters become more realistic. I like female characters in Jeffery Deaver’s books for they’re powerful and brave. Can’t love Amelia even more, she’s amazing!

This is my third Rhyme/Sachs novel. I have enjoyed each of them and they are immensely readable. However there is a sameness to the stories that takes awAy from the pleasure of the characters, the cerebral deduction and the chase.

Worth reading, but make sure you pave out visits to these books so that each remains as enjoyable as possible.
