My favourite of the Murderbot series so far. I LOVED the friendships and all the interactions between Murderbot and ART, especially both of them trying to understand human gestures.

I was missing some of the wrap-up of the conflict from the first book so I'm glad we intermittently touch on some of the details here, especially the admin side of how it all gets cleaned up.

A great follow-up to the first Murderbot book. We follow Murderbot on the quest to uncover its dark past which exists at the fringes of its memory after a previous mind wipe. On the way to return to the scene of crime, Murderbot befriends ART although they do have a love-hate relationship (in a totally endearing way of course). I really just enjoy the sci-fi world Martha Wells plops us in via the internal dialogue of a socially anxious, media-obsessed robot.

I enjoyed this second peak into Murderbot's life. It was interesting watching it continue to wrestle with what it means to be human and now what it means to have autonomy. I absolutely love ART and want to introduce it to Farscape, even if the number of episodes it could tolerate would be very small. A quick read to get the blood flowing to start of the year - like a nice jog, but in book form. 4 stars.

Really loving the murderbot series. I liked this book even more than the first one which I also gave 5 stars. Absolutely loved the relationship and dialogue between Murderbot and ART. Really liked the casual inclusion of queer stuff - Polyamorous relationships, more than 2 genders, Murderbot seemingly being asexual. .

The second installment of the Murderbot Diaries is just as wonderful as the first. The mystery surrounding how our "Murderbot" came to be named that (mentioned in the first book) continues and reaches a very poignant stage (I was rendered to tears—it was very emotional). Much like the TV show Monk's overarching theme of trying to solve his wife's murder, Murderbot's overarching theme is discovering why it became Murderbot.
Mixed in with the continuation of the key mystery is another client job, murder, murder attempts, ART (you figure out what the A stands for pretty quickly),sexbots ComfortBots, & more episodic adventures of Sanctuary Moon. Murderbot is still the ever-lovable introvert and there is a delightful exchange between Murderbot & ART regarding a new series called Worldhoppers on page 29n that had me laughing myself into stitches.
Martha Wells never lets up on the witticisms, the thrill, the mystery, or the analysis of human frailties, stupidities, and intricacies as experienced by an introverted yet "terrifying Murderbot" (Murderbot's description, not mine).
I still recommend this series to pretty much everyone. Every book is a novella and can be read to completion in one to two sittings, so it's great when you need a break between studying or working or heavier reads. Even if science fiction isn't your thing, you'll probably enjoy this because it's just so human and relatable. I hate scifi and I ADORE Murderbot.
