The second installment of the Murderbot Diaries is just as wonderful as the first. The mystery surrounding how our "Murderbot" came to be named that (mentioned in the first book) continues and reaches a very poignant stage (I was rendered to tears—it was very emotional). Much like the TV show Monk's overarching theme of trying to solve his wife's murder, Murderbot's overarching theme is discovering why it became Murderbot.

Mixed in with the continuation of the key mystery is another client job, murder, murder attempts, ART (you figure out what the A stands for pretty quickly), sexbots ComfortBots, & more episodic adventures of Sanctuary Moon. Murderbot is still the ever-lovable introvert and there is a delightful exchange between Murderbot & ART regarding a new series called Worldhoppers on page 29n that had me laughing myself into stitches. 

Martha Wells never lets up on the witticisms, the thrill, the mystery, or the analysis of human frailties, stupidities, and intricacies as experienced by an introverted yet "terrifying Murderbot" (Murderbot's description, not mine). 

I still recommend this series to pretty much everyone. Every book is a novella and can be read to completion in one to two sittings, so it's great when you need a break between studying or working or heavier reads. Even if science fiction isn't your thing, you'll probably enjoy this because it's just so human and relatable. I hate scifi and I ADORE Murderbot.

mindboggling amazing. i'm really liking the adventure sorta plot this series has, as we go with murderbot through the universe. this one was definitely a good one!! i liked the diverse SCs and getting to see murderbot interact more with those around it, especially ARF (i think that was the name it gave the ship). i can't wait to read the next one!

Definitely a step up from the first installment. The foreshadowing is a little too transparent but it was endearing.

Another cozy sci-fi novella! I enjoyed this one a lot but it didn’t have the same draw as the first one in the series. I’m so excited to start the next one!

I made it back here! 

I guess you can’t tell a story from the point of view of something that you don’t think has a point of view. 

Murderbot is such a fun series to read and I find it very amusing. I'm glad to be back and, once again, excited for the adventures ahead!
This time Murderbot goes back to the mining facility where it went rogue to find out what really happened. Murderbot teams up with ART (aka Asshole Research Transport) and their duo is just perfect! I don't know what it is, but I was a tad sad to see them go their separate ways. I do hope that we get to see ART again in later installments!

 For my entire existence, at least the parts I could remember, I had done nothing but accept the inevitable. I was tired of it. 

Murderbot is undoubtedly more human-like than before, it has a personality and to some extent even a moral compass. I love reading about it's thoughts and opinions, how it becomes a human - always evolving and growing as a person. And still as relatable as ever!
 
Sometimes people do things to you that you can’t do anything about. You just have to survive it and go on. 

It's been a while, since I started this book and truth be told, I don't remember the beginning that much anymore, only bits and pieces. The ending was definitely a quicker and more enjoyable part, but I'm not sure why the beginning was such a struggle, since now it seems like a really great story. Ready for more in the future either way! (Please, ART, I miss you and Murderbot!)

There was a huge difference between knowing something happened and seeing the reality of it.

I like this book, but I didn’t have as much action as the first one. I did really like the exploration of how the bot thinks about themselves in terms of being human, artificial intelligence, being an object and a tool versus its own entity.

this second novella reads a bit like a side-story. Plot-wise it was very thin. I’ve got the feeling this series would be better suited to be read as a novel.

I love the dynamic between Murderbot and ART in this book! As usual, the plot of this had my emotions all over the place. But it was such a comfort to me to go back into this universe Wells has created. I can’t wait to pick up the next one and see what Murderbot decides to do!
