A cute little series, as is my comment for subsequent books. :)

Ivy is the last person in the world that Bean wants to be friends with as she thinks Ivy is a boring good girl. Bean on the other hand is a tomboy who's always getting into trouble. One day while pulling a prank on her sister Bean discovers that her first impression of Ivy might have been totally wrong . . .

This cute story is well voiced by Cassandra Morris, and the beginning of a series.

I had to stop reading this series to my 6yo. The characters were mean to each other including some unchecked bullying and physical harm dressed up as funny. The girls have a bad attitude and make what I'd call bad choices that did not get their due in the end, so no real lessons were learned. I didn't like the language nor the way the sisters got along and treat each other. Not at all what I want to provide as valuable literature for my children. The fossil one was the best of the lot. The dance and "being bad" ones were my least favorite. We didn't get past book 6. Unfortunately, my 6yo loved it and there were lots of tears when I said I wouldn't read it anymore.

Content was appropriate for a child. Pictures were cute, but not overwhelming. Do not have children, but work in a library at the children's desk. Review of 5 stars is to say that it was appropriate for the recommended age of 6-8.

This was a silly, realistic book with great illustrations. My son giggled several times while reading it, but he was not that into it. There is a lot of name calling and pranks, some of which were just mean. We will not be continuing the series.
