I’m disappointed this was my first book for summer.. I didn’t enjoy it at all. None of the characters stood out and the story just didn’t matter.

Loved this book! You don’t like the characters, but you’re not supposed to. It’s very juicy and gossipy which I love

Eat the rich. And I felt like Rachel's character was extremely lacking and deserved better.

DID NOT FINISH: 18%

Bad summer people should be called Bad Summer Book. It opens in an exciting and intriguing way-a child has been found dead in a quaint summer island where cars and roads don’t exist, people just bicycle everywhere. The island is only accessible by ferry and is an idyllic haven for the rich.

After the prologue, the reader gets introduced to the characters. At first I thought, “Oh! Whoa! There are so many names and couples being thrown at me!” But have no fear, reader, each character gets their own 1st person chapter dedicated to them 🙄

This is one of my most hated ways to read a story, but even a few perspectives in, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting in to. However, it is clear at 18% in that I have gotten no investment in any character, and the characters are all extremely vapid. I couldn’t bear this story even in audiobook format, which sometimes is quite helpful in getting through a slower or more complicated text.
