Sigmund Jorge is captain of the Helmstrumberg Halberdiers, a ragged bunch of local soldiers.
As beastmen start to attack the town he has to try and protect the citizenry and his men.
A decent Warhammer fantasy novel, plenty of action and sacrifice going on as they have to fight the overwhelming numbers coming at them.
As usual with this type of story, there are forces loyal to Chaos inside the town as well that are doing their best to unravel Jorges plans.
