Lackberg how I love her stories: slowly giving us little pieces of the puzzle, connecting past and present in two gripping storylines, bringing it all together at the end. No, no real surprise there at the end but I love the way she leads us to the resolution instead of dumping all kinds of surprises on the readers at the very end. The characters were interesting too, and I'm really growing attached to the main characters. Looking forward to the next instalment!

Another interesting mystery with some disturbing and fascinating characters. I'm enjoying the developments between Patrick and Erica and amongst other members of the squad. I'm looking forward to the new detective!

A great read! I did know pretty far in advance who the killer was, but it didn’t matter. There were lots of great subplots, especially the one about Erica and how hard having a newborn is. There were A LOT of characters, and I had trouble keeping up with who everyone was. I also could have used a little less of the repugnant Agnes, especially as she got older. I really enjoy these characters and the setting and Läckberg writes a very tight mystery.

It was a great book. I specifically liked the character development, and especially the female characters: the evil within them, the strength, the desperation, the raw emotion. I read this book more like a dive in the depths of psychological disorders than a crime novel. Not that I wasn't interested to find the murdered or answer the enigmas, but it sort of took a backseat compared to the monumentally screwed protagonists. Regardless of my own reaction though, the crime story really was gripping and surprising as needed in its own right.

On a semi-related note, this comparison among authors just because they come from the same general geographic location and maybe write the same general genre needs to stop. Personally, I can draw way more parallels between Camilla Lackberg and Gillian Flynn, than between Camilla Lackberg and Stieg Larsson.
