I did not read this book in october (I finished reading 27/12/23) but this was our bookclub pick in that month lol
I can't say I enjoyed reading this book. I didn't dislike it either tho. I feel really conflicted... on one side I'm here thinking that it all seems a rather normal depiction of grief and self-reflection on those who have departed but on the other side I feel like this was a little over the top? At least in the way this lady is depicted. She's so extra xD
anyway, interesting read. I feel like there's a cultural barrier between this book and my own experience as a daughter (in a country that is not Korea, obviously) that is stopping me from fully grasping the intent of the author.
on a note of color, by chance I started listening to the audiobook of "violets" by the same author and I just wanted to say: Is the abandoning, unfaithful father who runs away from the countryside to the city in a bike a personal experience the author needs to include on every book? otherwise... why would she write this particular event in two of her books? Terapy seems healthier.
