I gave 4.5 instead of 5 because in the last chapter, the POV kind of mixed up and perplexed whether it is based on their Mother or the youngest sibling (or am I not in a good state so it's difficult to understand, I don't know).
Please Look After Mom succeed to make me burst in tears when I just started to read it. This explains about Park Sonyo (the mother of 4 children) has get lost in the Seoul Station and all of their children unfortunately failed to find her. The chapter divided into four parts: from the oldest daughter, oldest son, the father, and the mother or the youngest daughter I think.
For me, the stories is definitely heart wrenching and makes the reader despondent on how the mother sacrifices all of her life for the family's sake. She barely even has a dream because focused to take care of her children and husband. That's why there are some parts where the mother is furious towards the youngest daughter because she chooses to become a housewife (which is not wrong for me) even though she already succeed pursuing education abroad. She just wants the best for her children. Other than that, what makes me hurt the most is even the husband taking for granted her for the rest of their life, he just remorse it after the wife completely disappear. No other things that can send you an excruciating pain other than realizing your mother/wife is gone but you are too late to aware that you know nothing about her.
The POV is intriguing for me. I could have a various way to understand their POV from each character, but sometimes it could be difficult to understand, I'm not used reading from second person. The narration is too long and the author missed to defines the mother - youngest son relationship, I rarely saw the mother mention the lovely moments from him. Even the author never mention his name earlier.
Reading this books successfully hits me hard on my face. It's really an eye-opening one! We should be grateful when your mother is still by your side until now. Please Look After Mom is a reminder for everyone that you have to cherished every moments with mom as long she is still with you. Because this is her first life too, don't be so hard on her.
