Had to put it down due to too many tears in my eyes a couple of times. Beautifully written book, that at the same time will break and fill your hearts thinking about our mom's. Would recommend with a warm cup of tea. Warm blankets and tissues nearby, but for sure reccomend.

Please look after mom is a a very interesting dive into post-war countryside Korean society. Women were supposed to get married, have a lot of children and spend their time in the kitchen cooking for the rest of their family (which is kind of a given since it’s a family of 7, excluding all the relatives that appear every once in a while).
Years later, the children are grown up and living their own lives and dad looses mum in Seoul Central Station. I actually finished this book while arriving to Seoul Station, so I saw first hand how chaotic and crowded it is and how it would be possible to lose someone if not paying attention. And that’s where this book starts. We learn about the family, their traditions and how mother always sacrificed herself for her children. In the end, no one really knew or appreciated her until she was gone.
It is a powerful novel that makes you think about relationships with those you love the most. A relationship is always a two way effort.
I really enjoyed this book since it made me think about all the relationships in my life, it has the power to shock you and to make you feel. However I struggled to relate to the characters and their actions. Nevertheless, a great window to Korean culture.
