I love Kresley Cole's books! The "Immortals After Dark" series is one of my favourites. I've read most of the books several times. If you haven't read them, I highly recommend them.

I've read this book a couple of times, but yesterday I listened to the audiobook. I loved it!

This is not my favorite so far in this series but it was still good. I am going to have start the next one really soon.

Quite a good read. I definitely enjoyed this one even though it wasn't one of my favorites. I felt like Holly was too uptight and Cade was the complete opposite and perfect for her. The ending did somehow seem too.... tidy. Overall, I would recommend and certaintly liked the way Holly and Cade complimented each other so nicely.

I am giving up on this book. For the previous books even if I didn’t like one of the characters (usually the man), I usually liked the other MC, but with this one I didn’t like either of them, which really killed my enjoyment of this book.

While I like Cade in the other books, I don’t like him at all in this one. He has been lying from the very beginning and plans on giving Holly up even though she is his mate, which I don’t love. He is misogynistic, kisses another demon after they have already kissed and he knows she is his mate, and just constantly does things that make me not really like him.

Holly was my main issue though because she was so annoying. She is a newly awakened valkyrie who has spent her life avoiding anything sexual, not because she doesn’t like it but because she is afraid of hurting someone, but she has a boyfriend, which she doesn’t kiss, and expects it to magically all work out once they get married. She also only eats prepackaged foods and refuses to eat them if she accidentally touches the rim, which is such a waste and was just very ridiculous. She is such a controlled and lifeless woman that I just wanted to slap her and shout to wake up.

At 40% in I still can’t imagine these two as a couple and I wouldn’t want either of them as a partner, nor do I really care what happens next to them so I am just done with this book.

TW: kidnapping, attempted rape, death, violence,

I finished this book on my second try because I like the series and the books tie into each other so much. But I HATED both MCs. The FMC was annoying, and the OCD rep was not very tastefully done.
Cheating is such a trigger for me so I struggled with that.
The world building and writing was as wonderful as ever. I love the complexities of the Lore and the powerful women. I’ll definitely continue the series but I’m so relieved I’m passed this book.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: cheating, captivity, attempted SA, dubcon, stalking, violence

Enjoyable, but not my fave in the series so far. The pacing was a little off; it started pretty slow and then the resolution felt rushed. Also, I never really clicked with the couple in this one. That said, it's always a treat to return to the world Cole has created. I will definitely keep reading the IAD books!
