I've been hunting for a second-hand copy of this book ever since I saw Alok in Jonathan Van Ness's Getting Curious. If you haven't wtached that, give yourself a favour and go. It's 30 minutes of pure love and joy and also heartbreak.
Beyond the Gender Binary does exactly what it says on the tin, exploring what lies beyond the idea of a gender binary. It does focus a lot on the harm perpetuated in the notion's name, so be prepared for that, but it gives a checklist of arguments against the usual responses to people who feel threatened by the existence of trans and non-binary people. This book is very short and easy to read, so it should absolutely be everywhere.

A fantastic little book that's an overview of the falacy of the gender binary. Tons of information in a very short book. I've already bought more in this series!

Everybody needs to read this book. The author is a non-binary individual, so of course the book is Own Voices, which is so important. They share just a few of their experiences as a non-binary person, many of which are, unfortunately, not positive ones.

The part that I really feel people need to hear is the "debunking" of various common statements that individuals make regarding why gender non-conforming and non-binary individuals are problematic. There are so many micro-aggressions and insulting tones in these statements, some of which people may not even realize are harmful. The fact is, though, that people are being harmed, and it needs to stop. While this book may be small, it packs a big punch of information. Please, please read it - and convince everyone you know to read it, too.
