this was the first warriors book i ever read, and it got me hooked on the series. i only ever read it the one time, though, so this review will be entirely based on what i remember from when i was twelve. sorry.

this book is fucking agonizing. like, in an emotional way. i don't recall it being particularly distinct in writing style from any of the other books (but again. this was my first warriors book. i wasn't comparing it to the others at the time because i had not read them. also, this was 8 years ago) but i thought it was well-written at the time so we'll go with that. it is a very depressing book, though. it kind of seems like almost everybody in it dies terribly.

i think i remember at the time feeling like bluefur was not a particularly nice cat to be the protagonist, but i didn't mind it at the time, and actually, i really don't mind it now. i think it's interesting that she is the way she is, that is, kind of self-centered and prone to holding grudges. it's a good take on her.

I actually finished this in October but I forgot to add it. It was a fun story following Bluestar and her rise to leadership in ThunderClan!

I don't know why I read prequels because they depress me so much when I realize that everyone dies! Bluestar's Prophecy was really interesting and the characters were really likeable. I loved how it explored the emotion and story behind Bluefur giving up her kits for the good of the Clan, and how it expressed how dangerous ambition can be if not restricted.

Okay, so this book did not start off well for me at ALL. Bluekit and her sister open their eyes the DAY AFTER THEY WERE BORN. Ummm, Erins, not sure if you realize this but, CATS ARE NOT HORSES. All they can do for the first week or so of their lives is cry, eat, and sleep, NOTHING MORE. THEY CANNOT "JUMP TO THEIR PAWS" OR ANYTHING! WHY??? HOW DO YOU MAKE A MISTAKE LIKE THIS???? Honestly, this is actually terrible. I had to skip the rest of chapter one just because this was bothering me too much.
I don't have many bad things to say about the rest. I liked the politics over Sunningrocks; Pinestar's choice to become a kittypet I thought was interesting because I haven't read anything like that in Warriors before. I'm not sure what I think about the romance, Oakheart was okay. Thistle law could've been more fleshed out, and he could have had some good traits and not been so obviously evil. I think he would have been a better character if he had more subtlety.

I can't remember enough about the other Super Editions to review them but this, THIS is where it's at.
This is the definitive Warriors book, by a long way. Written basically as a prequel featuring some great foreshadowing, awesome (and slightly deranged) medicine cat Goosefeather and very enjoyable set-up for the rest of the books. All wrapped around the character of Bluestar, who goes through loss and heartbreak across her entire life all for what she sees as the greater good.
With a scope that truly felt epic to 11-year-old me, Bluestar's Prophecy is the peak of these authors' talents.

This explains so many things. And it makes me love Bluestar even more than I already did.
It's an intense character on Bluestar and her life before we meet her in Into the Wild.
It's especially funny when you recognize all the old characters and see them grow up (Lionpaw, I mean you especially).
We see so much of Bluestar's character growth and the choices that shaped her life. And it shows her struggles with StarClan and her own choices. Her love story is only a small part of her arc and I enjoyed that very much.

I have so many thoughts and feelings about this.
- Snowfur and Bluestar share such a special relationship. I loved to see them grow apart and not knowing exactly how to find back.
- her distant das made me so mad
- The friendship between Crookedpaw and Bluepaw was adorable and I would have loved to see more of those two
- Moonflowers death killed me. I knew she was gonna die early in the book but I didn't realize Bluepaw saw it happen ;___;
- Sunfall is such a good mentor and strong character. He held the Clan together when they felt devastated after Pinestar left
- That whole thing was so well fore-shadowed btw, well done.
- And Jake! Firestar's dad! I cannot believe!
- small Tigerclaw was interesting to see. I was not fond of him in the first series but I do feel I understand him better now
- Oh, Bluestar's hate for Yellowfang makes so much more sense now! It's so obvious when you know the facts
- Goosefeather confused me a bit, I felt bad for all the flak he got from his Clanmates
- Featherwhisker was such a sweetheart; no wonder Spottedleaf turned out so great. Loved his humour
- Whitefur named after his mom? My poor heart
- Thrushpelt, my poor boy! Most loyal of all, I am so sad he never got to raise (his own) kits. He reminds me of Grey Wing in a way that hurts
- now to the hardest part: Oakheart. Geez. First of all, why did we not see him in his full pining glory? I feel robbed. His every interaction with Bluepelt was soft and sweet and broke me.
- Bluepelt deciding between her Clan or her kits? StarClan is truly cruel.

4.5 stars!
The reason this isn't getting a five star rating from me is because Bluestars romantic relationship was incredibly rushed and barely part of the story, despite the enormous consequences it had for her life and for multiple clans. I did love getting more information about Bluestars life though, and learning about what Thunderclan was like just before Firepaw arrived. This gave a huge amount of insight into why Bluestar is the cat she is, and why she runs her clan the way she does. I definitely recommend it to anyone about to start the original series!

This was great! I felt so nostalgic reading this. The moment when a cat got their warrior name and suddenly it's like OMG is that them! I forgot! Also, this was really emotional.
When Bluestar had to give her kittens away and when she recieved her nine lives,I was crying so hard!!
Damn, I love these books.
