Granted I didn't read this entire book from cover to cover, but I enjoyed what I skimmed through. It was very exciting and inspiring to read these women's stories; whether they were women that I was familiar with or learning about for the first time. The overarching theme that I got from this book was to never give up on your dreams and that success doesn't come overnight.

I finally finished this book, with somewhat mixed feelings. One the one hand, I enjoyed "meeting" all of these lovely women who are going out there and doing amazing things in the world. The women selected (although mostly living in New York) represented a diverse group in every sense of the word. A few of my favorite people were in this book as well, which was an unexpected surprise. As a few other reviews have mentioned, I wish that the interviews hadn't been quite so repetitive. The interviews stuck to the same formula of questions, and never probed deeper, so it felt like a bunch of inspiring women filled out a questionnaire, and not really an interview. The photography of the book was lovely, even with a digital version I enjoyed the photos of the women in their spaces. Overall I enjoyed the book, and have several pages bookmarked with quotes and phrases that I would like to come back to. A bit more depth and variation with the interviews would have made this book a 5 star read!

This would be a great coffee table book. Very visually appealing and easy to jump in and out of. There were times when things that were mentioned made me think "YES! Exactly!" and of course I'm all about a book dedicated to strong and powerful ladies.

An absolute delight of a read! I've read through cover to cover once. I've also picked through various interviews to dissect further, whenever I am seeking inspiration. A wonderful collection of interviews with amazing women working independently in creative fields. I've really enjoyed keeping this one around just for light referencing.

Took me a little longer to get through this book, but I enjoyed it immensely. The main reason it took me a little longer to get through this book is because I wanted to take my time reading through each individual interview so that I could absorb as much as I could. Highlighted tons of great quotes and advice. This book is very inspirational to read about so many amazing accomplished women. I highly recommend this to any woman who needs a little inspiration to remember to keep fighting and keep trying in this world.

I heard about this book on a podcast and decided to read it when I received an email that it was marked down on Amazon for about $3 instead of $30-something.

The Q&A format for each artist made it easy to pick up and put down, but the repetition of that format made it easy to forget who was who. It was heartening to see the similarities in challenges and outlooks between the women, but disappointing to see so few mothers. It seems that even being in control of your own business doesn't ease the work-life imbalance.

What a fun way to 'meet' women across America who work in creative roles and learn what inspired them, to then in turn be inspired in my own world.

I can't remember where I first learned of this book, but it was a delightful way to spend a slow afternoon at work engaging with the leading women who make up this collection.

I can't believe this book sat on my bookshelf for three years before I finally consumed every wonderful word and story within.

It's endlessly quotable, empowering, inspiring, charming, and I'm going to say it again - empowering. To delve into the thoughts, experiences and advice of over 100 women from different walks of life leading different lives, was an experience in and of itself.

I can't believe this book has only 2,200 ratings; it should be read far and wide not just by every woman, but by every one everywhere as a douse of inspiration to embrace being true to oneself. It's simply refreshing and such an interesting way to spend a few hours.

A handful of favorite quotes from the interviews:

"Most times my inner voice tells me in a flash what I want and need, and whom to trust. I'm learning to honor that inner voice." - Lisa Hunt

"If I want to do something, I don't let busy stand in the way. I make the time to do it." - Debbie Millman

"I've learned that the word 'no' has many meanings and is not necessarily a negative thing." - Miko Branch
