Definitely a quick read, and a cool look at Fours life before the divergent series! Kind of wished there was more after passing initiation and his perspective as an initiation instructor the first year, but still a pleasant read

i was obsessed with the first book in this series. badass women as main characters always have me hooked, romance as a side trope is delightful. and then the rest of the books had the world building falling apart, characters acting differently from what they originally started out as, romance being the focus of the story. tris going ahead and getting herself killed??? (not cool, tris) AND THEN CHRISTINA AND TOBIAS BECOME A THING??? like okay, move on with your life, but your dead girlfriend's best friend is.... let's not do that actually :D

this was just uneeded really. I get it if you're really invested in four and tris but this book gives you nothing new. yes you get to know a bit more about fours life but we are already told the basics in the trilogy. As well as this, more of it than I care for is just copied dialogue from the first book and tobias' point of view mashed into the same scenes.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: This book was great. I loved seeing Four's perspective on things and getting a glimpse inside his head. I've never really understood when people claim to have "book boyfriends" but Four's character made me come really close to understanding the meaning of it, he is by far my favorite male love-interest that I've ever read about, and that was after having read just the Divergent series. This collection of stories made me love him even more. I loved getting the inside look at his life and how he turned into the Dauntless member we met in Divergent.
CHARACTERS: I've already pretty much covered this. I loved the character of Four and I'm glad to have more of an understand of what makes him the way he is.
COVER: 5/5. I love this cover so much! It is super shiny and eye catching. I love that it ties into the rest of the Divergent series.
