Mercy seems to attract trouble. I like it that this series explore the different occult types. In this one you knew something fishy was going on when Mercy was invited by an old school friend. Mercy certainly got more than she bargained for! I enjoyed this book.

Stefan really comes through for Mercy when the head of his seethe is out to get her. The vampires are a major part of this story. Mercy is still struggling from her torture from the last book. She suffers panic attacks and can't stand being touched. Adam is trying to help and brings her closer into the pack. When she is offered a chance to help a friend in another city she goes. This brings on another major amount of trouble for Mercy and her friends. She meets some scary and very interesting creatures while on this trip.
A great installment in the story. Mercy never lets her friends down no matter the cost to herself.

Another great installment of Mercy!

Mercy is great. She’s tough, smart, capable, loving, and talented. She will literally put her life on the life if she cares about you and/or it’s the right thing to do.

I love seeing her deal with her new relationship with Adam! Adam is the best!! She definitely made the right choice. He’s hot, brave, protective, charming, and patient. He knows when to give Mercy space and when to push her a little.

Stefan’s story breaks my heart! But I love how much he cares for Mercy. He literally risked everything for her and he pays BIG TIME for that. But I do love when these books focus on the vampires.

First read: Jan 2014

Second read: Dec 2021

This book finds Mercy trying to recover and process her assault, while trying to help Stefan get back into Marsilla’s “good” graces. All credit to this book, it doesn’t flinch from Mercy’s recovery. PNR is good, escapist fun but it’s still important to see that trauma doesn’t just magically end. This book doesn’t dwell on it, but it is honest in its portrayal. Plus, I love that Adam can be loving, supportive and protective, and still give Mercy the space she needs to live her life on her own terms. #relationshipgoals
