I wanted to read this because I adore the Ghibli film. There were a lot of differences to the film (that I was prepared for) but oh I loved it!

I did get the trilogy so looking forward to more stories from this world but right now I can't move on from these characters.

This was very fun and cute! I’m a huge fan of the Studio Ghibli film, so it was fun to read the source material. At first the book seems to match the movie VERY closely except for a couple details, but it does deviate quite a bit as it goes on. Still has the same cozy, whimsical vibe! The prose reads as charmingly older and British indeed. I did chuckle out loud several times, and was surprised at what an infuriating character Howl was compared to his aloof and charming movie counterpart. It feels like it meanders aimlessly through the plot occasionally, and it was a little confusing at times, but I still enjoyed it.

Worth reading if you’re a fan of the animated movie! There are other books in the series, but I think I’m content to read this as a standalone.
