Decent information, but the writing style is obnoxious and the authors' personal opinions and biases bleed through in a major way that had me rolling my eyes a lot. This book is unashamedly and aggressively written by and for heterosexual white culturally Christian bdsm practioners who exclusively play with dominant male/submissive female, so if you are looking for anything that will present you with a more varied approach, look elsewhere. There are frequent pages-long roleplay/fanfictjon sections that add nothing, and after the second one I just staryed skipping them. The basic information presented here is pretty good, but to be honest would rather find it in another source that isn't so grating to read.

I was curious about this topic. The who/what/why. This offers interesting insight into an area of sexuality that is still taboo for discussion.

Somewhat goofy tone, but plenty of good information. A few erotic passages for good measure.

This book is outdated but is one of the classics, some chapters were really interesting and I really enjoyed the emphasis in safety and the well being of both the submissive and dominant, but other parts were kind of meh or sometimes I wanted more depth. A nice introductory book, if you are interested in BDSM I recommend you just skim trough the bits that peak your interest.

At best, a decent reminder of where we’ve been. Not a great way to look forward, nor anything I would ever recommend to newbies.
