A book that I couldn't put down. Inspiring and heart-felt. I illustrations are fun but don't ruin the overall serious theme of this book. A must read.

A great coming of age story for video-gaming boys. Good tension between what you wants to do vs. what your family wants vs. what your culture wants.

This book had a solid plot that kept the story entertaining the whole way though.

I like the watercolor art and the simple figure drawing. The plot was nothing special but I like the reasoning for how the protagonist Dennis choose his career path.

This is a really cute graphic novel about finding your direction despite outside influences and familial pressures. Readers who grew up in the 90s will get nostalgic over the progression of video games and how revolutionary/unreal/progressive they seemed to the young protagonist and others like him. The protagonist's main battle involves following his deceased father's desire for him to go to medical school versus his own reluctance to give up his life of careless fun and video games. It's a "growing up" story that can be enjoyed by all regardless of your opinions on video games.

I LOVED this. Video games and poop humor! My two favorite things!

This graphic novel was a quick read with an interesting story. Although the quirks are worked out with the ending of the story, this book is a fun read, but not Rosie quality.

Really enjoyed this. The art was so different from American Born Chinese, it took me by surprise! But I liked the simplistic style and I found the story easier to follow. Very touching.

Thien Pham's artwork is lovely, and Gene Luen Yang's writing is really powerful. It sneaks up on you--I wasn't expecting to be moved, but I was.

Definitely not his most awe-inspiring book. I think kids would probably like his direct expression of conflict with parents. The final pages led to a clear inference on theme.
