The excellent narration was five stars but 4.5 stars overall.
This was a bit hard to read - definitely upsetting - but also just hopeful enough. And the ending made my heart happy!

This is a beautiful story. Although it would be typical to focus on the gruesomeness in this post-apocalyptic world, Dimaline chooses to develop the idea of family and belonging and love. Definitely a good choice for my students to discuss identity and humanity.
