Never disappoints.
I have continually been impressed by James Rollins books and this one is no different. A page turner from start to finish. Adventure, science, and potential world destruction! You can't do any better! Looking forward to the next one

This book felt very formulaic, moreso than others. I also feel like it struggled with the sheer number of new characters introduced.

First James Rollins book I have read. Was very entertaining and kept my interest throughout. Would definitely go back and read more Sigma books from Rollins. Only reason it received three stars is because throughout the book there is heavy use of scientific terms, which quite honestly I didn't know what most of the terms meant. This doesn't take away from the story at all, was just a little heavy on the terms at certain points in the book. Overall it was a entertaining read.

I'm honestly SHOCKED that the Sigma Force series hasn't been turned into an episodic TV series for a channel like SyFy or something like that. This series is great especially because of the writing, but also because each novel is a stand alone novel in most respects. Sure there is a little bit of back story that you could do with knowing, but to be honest, I don't think it's necessary. I listened to this one as an audio book and I've only read the first one (Sandstorm) and I had absolutely no trouble with following this along as an individual story.
Getting to the actual story I thought it was phenomenal. The writing is amazing - I didn't read it obviously, but listening to the story it's fantastic. The characters have their depth and their dimensions. The action is very well written and performed. The science is extremely realistic and current. It's a great commentary on the current climate situation and the effects it can have and has had on our planet and environment. That's just an added bonus to reading it though, as the story itself is really awesome.
I got into this series because it was recommended somewhere as a series to read if you enjoy Indiana Jones and/or the Robert Langdon Saga. In this respect, it certainly doesn't disappoint as each of the two stories I've read so far in this series follow that general synopsis. A "treasure hunt" of sorts - in the Sigma Force case, much more akin to a thrilled like the Langdon novels, but also with great descriptions of history and culture that you could find in stories like Indiana Jones. It really is amazing and I am beyond excited to read the rest of the series.
