Finished this middle grade book on the weekend. It was one of those experiences where I was enjoying the book soooo much that I began reading slower when I got to the last few chapters because I DIDN'T WANT IT TO END. This would make a fantastic read aloud.
I loved everything about this book. EVERYTHING.

Imaginative and charming, this had many elements of a good children's story -- with the first being that adults can enjoy it too. The relationship between Micah and Grandpa Ephraim was heartwarming, and the other characters were enjoyable as well (with a couple of necessary exceptions, of course). There were elements that hint at a spiritual, even Christian worldview, which perhaps was not the intention of the author, but I appreciated them nonetheless. The magic is found in the context of faith: "You have to believe it to see it."

Mise à part le style littéraire un peu maigre, ce roman est absolument magnifique. L’intrigue est originale, les personnages sont attachants et la magie traverse l’ouvrage d’un bout à l’autre.
Listened to the audiobook. Had some magical moments but the story didn't make the top of my list for this type of theme (I had high expectations because I LOVE all things magic/circus). Still was a nice audio read!
