Lovely

This is a lovely story about magic, friendship, and faith in what you know to be true. A very sweet story.

This is a book about a magical circus, which Micah's grandfather found years ago and is owed a miracle. However, it doesn't seem to be happening, so if Micah can find it, that would hopefully cause the debt to be repaid. He has a time limit though, because his grandfather is dying. Can Micah find the Circus Mirandus and save his grandfather?

This story is beautifully told and will hit you in the feels. The only character I found slightly unbelievable was Micah's great-aunt. Would she really have been so cold? And I did have a few questions about the ending, but I'm not interested in typing spoilers here, so I'll have to go search those out somewhere else.

"Micah," said the Lightbender. "What do you think magic is?"

"I guess it's what's inside of people like you," he replied. "The parts of you that are too big to keep just to yourself."

That sounds about right.

Now to convince my own 8 year old Mica that this really is the perfect book for him to read!

The boys and I really enjoyed this one!

There is a reason this book is receiving as much buzz as it is, and it isn't just because it features a circus. Though the beginning of the book starts slow, with Micah Tuttle trying in vain to deal with his dying grandfather and his mean great aunt who has come to stay, once you get to the magic (and yes, there is magic), the book is exactly that: magical. It's almost like a book about Santa Claus only in this case Santa is a circus with more wide reaching implications. This is a story that begs for further interpretation and thought. Kids who read this will be inspired.

I totally got sucked into the magic of Circus Mirandus. While I was able to predict some of what was going to happen, it was still really fun to see how it played out. I needed something fun and easy that would take me to another place, and this fit the bill perfectly.

Read this. Just read it. It was delightful start to finish.

This story follow Micah a young boy who is left in the care of his grandfather. His grandfather has always told him stories of his trip to Circus Mirandus. Micah's grandfather is very ill and he wants Micah to go to Circus Mirandus so that he can ask one of the performers for the miracle he was promised when he went as a child. The story unfolds from there.

I listened to this on audiobook and thought the narrator did an excellent job. The voices were distinct and I was able to follow who was talking without having to pay super close attention.

Overall, I really did enjoy this story. I'm kind of obsessed with stories set in or about a circus and this one did not disappoint. While I initially expected an absolute happy story, this book dealt with issues of death, letting go, and always believing. It was presented in a way that young readers could definitely understand, and as an adult reader I did not feel bored as I was listening to the story.

Such a heartwarming story that leaves you with such a sense of hope, love, and magic! Highly recommend!!
