I love this idea of books and paintings and architecture speaking to us, of them being alive and breathing. Blue Balliet is a clever writer who makes her readers think. Her books are fun to read, regardless of your age.

A sequel to Chasing Vermeer (hailed as a DaVinci Code for kids), which I thought was a so-so book--great premise, not so great execution--kinda like the DaVinci Code! I gave the author another shot since this book's mystery centers around Frank Lloyd Wright. Not too impressed. But it does introduce kids to one of the greatest archhitects ever, so it gets some credit for that.

Another fun read aloud with the kiddos, Having them learn a little about Frank Lloyd Wright and the Fibonacci series was great.

What a fun mystery for kids! I can see why it is so popular with teachers. Added bonus is that it deals with 2 of my favorite things, Chicago and Frank Lloyd Wright!

Another great mystery with Calder, Petra, and Tommy. This book and its predecessor are very interesting youth mysteries-they incorporate history, art, math, science and the unexplainable in ways that cause me to think deeply, which is a challenge considering it's a middle-grades novel and I'm 28. Or maybe that says something about my intellectual abilities!
