This was fricking fantastic! I flew through this! Historically, stylistically, the story lineā€¦all incredibly done. One of my favorite reads this year so far. The perspective from James (Jim) and the take on Twains character, was conceptually brilliant.

I'm not typically interested in retellings, I actually can't tell you the last one I read, but y'all, don't sleep on Percival Everett. You don't have to have read Huck Finn before reading this (I googled a short summary to jog my memory, as it's been asfslfkjsdg years since I read it). This doesn't measure up to The Trees, for me, but it's clever and funny and white people are so annoying lol, read it.
