Very difficult to read at times, so much so I cannot say I enjoyed the reading experience of this book. The themes are interesting as well as the conversations about bullying, but I feel they were not fully executed effectively, and a more definitive stance of the author on the bullying shown in the book would have been beneficial. Not in love with the ending and the book made me feel very conflicted but the framework was there, just lacking in conclusion.

This is the first book of Kawakami that I read. Japanese authors always wrote beautifully and descriptive. It twisted the knots in my guts and create heartbreaking scenes. I think every teenagers need to read this book, just to pique their interest on moral value for every actions and its consequences.
