Kickstart My Heart is such a fun, flash back to the 80's, steamy romance. I really love the retro feel of this book. It's a fresh take on a romance novel. It's super creative too.
Mallory is a complete sweetheart considering the cards she's been dealt but it is Chaser who makes this book. He is yet another swoon-worthy book boyfriend. He oozes confidence, knows where he stands in life, is extremely loyal and does not let anyone stand in his way. Mallory and Chaser have such an amazing bond that develops super quickly. It's insta-love which I am not a fan of but Autumn's writing and focus on the characters had me completely overlooking it. She even subtly cracks a joke with how quickly Chaser falls.
In true Autumn Jones Lake form, Kickstart My Heart is a 294 page romance filled to the brim with action, comedy, twists, turns and incredibly HOT STEAM.
I do want to warn that this Book #1 of a Trilogy so it does hang on a cliffhanger of sorts. I cannot wait to see what happens next on this wild ride!

As always Autumn Jones Lake does not disappoint. There is something about a bad boy rocker/biker falling in love with the sweet mafia princess that just does something to my heart. I cannot wait for the next book

An Addictive Mix of Luscious 80s Hair Band Ambiance and Bad-Ass Biker...
I have to admit I am a bad, disloyal reader when it comes to authors I love because I often get so attached to one particular series that I willingly ignore the offshoots and next-gens. However leave it to Autumn Jones Lake to firmly show me the error of my ways by penning a non-Lost Kings MC club couple so juicy, so instantly likeable and beyond titillating, embedded in a fast-paced, intrigue filled plot so memorizing and unputdownable that I'm still picking my jaw up from the floor and wiping the last bits of drool from my chin...
"Kickstart My Heart", book one in Lake's Hollywood Demons trilogy, is her sidestep from the Lost Kings into neighboring MC, Devil Demons territory. It is the story of heir to the Demons MC throne Russell “Chaser” Adams and mafia princess Mallory "Dove" Delova. A couple we were first introduced to briefly in some of the early LOKI books, and again more prominently throughout Rooster and Shelby’s story where Chaser’s dynamic with all involved fascinated me so much I just HAD to know more!
Here, Lake transports us back all the way to 1989 in order to explore how one bad boy biker striving for rock star fame meets and falls for his queen. How Chaser, while following his musical passion encounters Mallory Dove, a doe-eyed blond new to LA dreaming of becoming an actress. A young woman who unbeknownst to him is harboring the secret of who she really is, the daughter of infamous Russian mob boss Anatoly Delova. A woman who, despite his instant possessive attraction to, views as being too fragile to fully exist in his world. However, he soon discovers little miss innocent isn’t quite as helpless as she outwardly appears, nor is she as removed from the violence of his world as he first thought. What follows is a rollercoaster ride of explosive chemistry and equally explosive dilemma causing secrecy. And let me tell you the story world Lake paints here is an absolute fantastical explosion of 80's hair band deliciousness and cutthroat brutality! A wild cross breed of the nostalgic day glow color and aqua net filled decade I grew up in, bursting with the music, glamour, and party-all-the-time debauchery, combined expertly with the darkly dangerous mafia/outlaw violence that simply sets my soul alight.
It is a delicious juxtaposition of brat pack era Hollywood excess and alpha rich biker grit. An intoxicating mixture of sweet and hard, innocent and violent, that completely "rocked me like a hurricane" (heehee, sorry, couldn't help myself).
This one was so good I am heartily sorry to the author for not having read it sooner! Lesson learned, read the books, ALL the books pertaining to this universe. Read. Them. Now!

Kickstart My Heart is my new favorite read by Autumn Jones Lake! Chaser and Mallory's story is everything I hoped for and more!! These characters are sweet, smart, sexy and I like them both so much! Five stars for Autumn Jones Lake's best book yet!!

Chaser and Mallory's story was fantastic, I absolutely loved it, I know I love rockstar and Hollywood romance and have to read them all, so I have read a lot, this one was amazing and took me by surprise, this is the first book by the author I read and would not be the last, looking forward for more in the series. This story was refreshing and got me from the start, the characters are wonderful and can't wait for the next one.

Re-read because I wanted some sweet 80’s themed, rocker love story in my head. Plus, I enjoy the reminder of pre-cell phone/social media relationships when we actually had to WAIT to hear back from someone.
Still a solid 4.5 stars, with that ‘Rock of Ages’ musical, feel from it.

Chaser is a rock star/musician, biker and alpha sweetheart all rolled into one. Mallory is a sheltered mafia princess on the run from her family. She is naive but knows her worth. This book takes place in 1989, when hair bands and music videos were the rage. Ya know, back when MTV actually had music videos on all the time. Chaser and Mallory meet on the set of his first music video.
The best thing about Lake’s stories are that she doesn’t follow the same ‘ole plot lines and eye-rolling drama that books from this genre usually have. Here there is no ow drama, no cheating, no drama for drama’s sake, not obligatory breakup or lame misunderstanding that could be solved with one conversation!!! It’s two adults, working things out, knowing there will be differences but TALKING ABOUT THEM. How utterly refreshing. It’s like she writes romance for actual adults.

He is my favorite kind of romance hero - a romantic alpha male with a filthy mouth, heart of gold, and deep respect for the woman who takes his wild heart.”This is MY favorite kind of book hero too! How does she manage write alpha men that are incredibly alpha, but not a**holes?! And her leading ladies are strong, and sensitive without being pushovers or wimps.

Autumn Jones is one of my fave authors and to be able to read and review an ARC copy of Kickstart My heart has been an absolute pleasure! This book was so fun to read, from the awesome 80s flashbacks to the steamy scenes between Mallory and Chaser. I loved how characters from Autumn’s other MC series (LOKI) popped in and out and added to the drama/tension. I feel as if it was a slightly different style of writing compared to the LOKI series but I loved it none the less; I could possibly be perceiving it a little differently as well as its written in an era where I wasn’t even born yet. I give 4⭐️, purely because I prefer the MC storyline over the Rock band one.
