This did what i could hope for with a novella--pleasant setting, some character growth (not much--see again, it's a novella), charming side characters, enjoyable activities. The parents putting on a fake sugar rush competition about gingerbread houses was perfect! Loved their weirdo energy! It's not overly memorable, but i had a nice time while listening. It's well narrated!

Okay I really loved this one. Tom was the perfect kind of hero for me; stoic exterior with multiple sexy layers underneath. I also appreciated how overall POLITE he was because that is something we don't see a lot off in romance. Which isn't to say all others are impolite but it was more noticeable here.

Plus the banter between him and Julie was *chef's kiss*. This will definitely go into my regular holiday reading rotation.

This book is a perfect hilarious holiday romance!

Julie & Tom go on a hilariously bad blind date but Julie keeps up the ruse that she has a boyfriend to her family.

When Christmas roles around Julie asks Tom to pretend to be her boyfriend when she visits family and he agrees.

Notes: takes place in Toronto, Canada. Tom and Julie are both East Asian Canadians.

This was freaking adorable. Apparently, I love a fake relationship trope. Add in some Christmas fun, only one bed trope, a gingerbread house competition, and family timeā€¦ it was a delight!

I couldn't stop giggling at Tony and Julie's horrendous first date--oh my god I would've made an excuse to leave within the first 15 minutes.

But all is well in the end, obviously. LOVE the Tam family and their Christmas challenges.

E-ARC is received thanks to the wonderful author.

holiday stories and Jackie Lau just go together in my mind--I think because the... first one? I read of hers? Is one of her holiday novellas. No exception here--delightful Christmas novella, 10/10 would recommend.
