This book felt so much like what high school me would have loved. Such an easy read and gave me all the feels. It was so soft and sappy - but you had me at enemies to lovers trope. Also side note, the fact that it was co written by two wives. This feels like a great coming of age sapphic novel, and as a big fan of those of course I loved it. I really loved Alex and Molly's backstories and even tho it definitely felt heavy, I am glad that they had developmentally individually as people- not just as a couple. I just really enjoyed the innocence of it all and not having wlw fetishized , just the pure feelings of having a crush. What lines really got me where about them being best friends

"Some things have to fall apart because they don't belong together, but some things belong together so much they could never break."
Vulnerability takes courage. Courage to trust the person you will open your heart to. Courage to not back away at the last minute in an involuntary instinct. Courage to open up, to speak, to expose all your flaws and pray your confidant doesn't turn their back on you and expose you for the world to see. Vulnerability takes courage, and love needs both.
"Love is not a weakness, but a strength that empowers us to be vulnerable and authentic."
Synopsis:
She Gets the Girl is a book about being vulnerable. It’s about having the bravery to be who we are and to find who that person is.
This book follows two freshmen in college, Alex Blackwood and Molly Parker, who each have their own problems to deal with. Molly has been crushing on a girl since high school who’s now at the same college as her while Alex is dealing with a rough break-up. With both of them with clear goals in mind, they both agree on a plan to help them: Molly confessing to the girl she has a crush on, and Alex proving her ex girlfriend that she is a good person and capable of commitment. Of course, neither of them expects to fall in love with each other in the process.
All of it. Leading me here. Leading me… to her.
My opinion:
When I saw this book on my shelf, after months of downloading it to read and not actually reading it, I believe the thought that crossed my mind was simply "The cover is beautiful, so why not?", so I did just that. Let me tell you, I was so in need for a cute sapphic romcom that this book felt like the spring breeze after a harsh winter: refreshing, invigorating and a breath of fresh air.
The romance is so cute, and while it may look like it's all happiness and joy, the book digs some more serious subjects. For exemple, the relationship between Alex and her mother.
I love this book for all it is. For all it made me feel. For how, in those days where all ny mind had was these characters, this book brought me happiness.
4/5⭐
If you spend your life focusing on the never, then you’ll never actually do anything. You gotta cut it out with that self-pity shit. You think you’re this little victim that no one is ever going to like, but how is anyone supposed to get the chance if you won’t even speak above a whisper?

it was cringy at times (clearly written by millenials) but the wasian struggle and the slow burn was relatable and good enough to keep me going so for that it gets 5 stars
