Love the premise and the siege portion of the book. Otherwise, it was less intriguing and less fun compared with other Hainish Cycle books

While not a fan favorite Le Guin novel, Planet of Exile still captured my mind. I love Ursula's depictions of societies/cultures, and the Tevarans, Terran exiles, and Gaals proved to be no exception. What has stuck with me days after finishing the book is the way she describes their gaze and eyes themselves. The firece, dark eyes of the exiles and the averting light eyes of the nomads. The stone-pounding nomads and dwindling exiles forgotten by home still sit with me as I write this review. The thought of an exiled community centuries removed from their homeworld still occupies my mind. A good book lingers, hovers over you well after reading, and this book does just that. I do think, however, that the plot is just a little bit lacking in this Le Guin novel. Lacking in what? I don't know. I don't know what to think about Rolery and Agat's relationship. I think many characters were left a little underdeveloped. But I did enjoy the openness of the ending. I'd recommend anyone remotely interested to read this shorter novel.
