I have read several of Barry's books and enjoyed them. To me, this was not one of his better books. I was expecting to laugh throughout the book. Unfortunately, that did not happen. It showcases some of the odder places to visit in Florida, but felt rather disjointed. The good things are: The book is short and I chuckled once or twice.

Having previously lived in Florida for 14 years, I can attest to the weird roadside attractions and the palmetto bugs the size of small birds that will repeatedly dive bomb you if trapped in your living room.

Listened on a road trip. It started off strong, but then slowed as he goes through the state. But light reading, if you’re in the mood for it.

Dave Barry's sense of humor is truly one of a kind. As a born and raised Miamian, I'm familiar with his work although I've never read any of his books. This one was an excellent starting point! Barry couples his unparalleled sense of humor with the exploration of some really fascinating places throughout the state of Florida. This book definitely made me proud to be a Floridian and allowed me to add a few places to my "to visit" list!

Doesn't make me want to move to Florida but he makes some good points in his usual funny way.
