Vuillard mostra nesta breve narrativa que sabe contar uma história com tremenda eficácia. Não sendo possível aprofundar muito temas e/ou personagens em tão poucas páginas, o autor não deixa de conseguir prender o leitor. Fica a vontade de voltar a Vuillard num texto de outra dimensão.

I might be missing something but I can't see how this was longlisted for the Man Booker International, let alone the shortlist.

Reads like a history essay and didn't really leave too much of an impression on me at all. At least it was a quick hour-long audiobook.

Si on voit où il veut en venir, pas sure que ce livre arrive à s'accomplir. Imprécis et complaisant avec soi même sur tout les plans, une lecture facile. Le sujet fascinant méritait un meilleur traitement, il en existe plusieurs d'ailleurs et Vuillard les évoque. Tout cela tient ensemble grâce à une jolie écriture. 2,5
