What in gods name just happened?? I know, I really do know that I was a fool to think that it would not only be a warm welcome back by reading a Cassandra Clare book after having a break (I'm ashamed but it was needed). But I must say that our dear fantasy mother Clare has gotten more cruel over the years. As you might guess I just finished this 2 seconds ago and I'm in shock.

But to get away from my sad and shocked emotions I just want to say that it was a really good book in general! I love the way Julian is build as a character! That he already has so many layers to him partly because of City of heavenly fire and the things that happened in that one.
Mark, Kieran and Christina are my hopes and dreams, literally. If they don't get to be like Wolfgang Kala and Rajan are in the end of Sense8, I will be a sad ball of tears on the floor.
Dru is so sweet and I really hope she gets more plot in the next book cause I had a feeling of unimportant side character but again I'm hopeful!
Kit, Ty and Livvy are a whole chapter for themselves and I just can't even at the moment.

“Break my heart,” he said. “Break it in pieces. I give you permission”.

I AM MAD!

I usually don’t shed a tear during the second book of a series, (that’s supposed to be for the ending) but this one got me. I’m not even going to bother writing a full review because I want to read the next one immediately!

However, I just want to say I appreciate Cassandra Clare giving more representation for the LGBTQ+ community, as well as diversifying her characters. Extra bonus points for body positivity character.

SpoilerYou know, about midway I thought to myself “hmm there’s way to many blackthorn kids around. One of them is bound to get seriously injured or even die in the next book.” Nope. Not the next book. This book right here. Fml.

“Magnus Bane. The Ultimate Traitor.”
“Not my favorite nickname. I prefer, ‘Our Lord and Master’ or maybe ‘Unambiguously the Hottest’.”

Sorry but... What the actual fuck?! You can't end a book like that! Seriously?!

I'm so annoyed and sad and angry.

Seriously though... This wasn't as good as Lady Midnight, but it was still pretty good.

WHAT!!!! WHAT!? How is the book going to end like THAT?! HOW am I going to be satisfied by the end of the next book with all the storylines I've grown deeply invested in? I would DIE for Julian Blackthorn!!! And Kit Herondale!!!! And Tiberius Blackthorn!!! How could Cassandra Clare DO THAT TO ME??? This is very personal! Anyways, this story was extremely engaging and I never wanted to pause my reading even when I had to. I can't wait to tackle the rest of this trilogy just in time for Chain of Gold's release on Tuesday.
