This book felt like a made-for-book-club discussion starter test. Hitting so many talking points. That said, I was totally immersed and invested in what was coming next. The friendship felt so shallow compared to many literary friendships, which also made it feel more honest. Jen was mostly insufferable.

In my opinion, there was not enough substance in this book. I finished it, but I was not very invested in the characters. This is a complicated topic and I felt that it did not go deep enough into the characters or the plot.

Given the complexity and controversy regarding the subject matter, it was surprisingly not a difficult read. The points of view were realistic and thoughtful. I enjoyed and liked both of the women narrators.

Probably one of my favorite books to date!! My sister gifted this to me after she read it, claiming it was both a ‘very good’ but also ‘necessary’ read amidst today’s political climate. This book really gives you perspective of the different lives we’re all living and experiencing and allows you to empathize with people who are not the same as you.
