This book is like talking to THAT friend that always has a good piece of solid, experienced wisdom for you. Not too much, nothing irrelevant, & all from personal experience. TNRT isn't a book to be devoured or gulped, it is too be sipped like really hot coffee. Each section needs taken with thoughtfulness & given a chance to sit in the uncomfortable. Leave this book out & jump around, reading what jumps out to you in the moment. I will be leaving mine out & revisiting it frequently as I try to figure out my next step.

The Next Right Thing podcast has been a weekly staple in my life for over a year. It is some of the best 15 minutes of my week. It has seen me through one of the most difficult years of my life. I always joke that Emily could read me the phone book and it would be inspirational. I was delighted when she decided to take the podcast to book form. While I had heard most of the content from the book on the podcast, many of the stories or concepts were tweaked just enough that the book still felt fresh and relevant. To be honest, the content of this book is one that could be read yearly and hold different spaces and weight based on what is happening in your life. I really enjoyed the chapter format of: content, prayer and practice. And while the premise of the book is about decision making there is so much more involved in the stories that touch many areas of life. I highly recommend! And Emily is the narrator of the audio version so I loved listening to this book and using the hard cover as visual reference.

I loved this podcast to start and now I’m so glad to have a book to go along with Emily Freeman’s wise spoken words. I read parts of this book during the 2020 election, when I felt really down about how I was going to make a voting decision. I was reminded that our decisions are not who we are, they are just a choice we make with the information we have. For that, and the other beautiful insights inside this book, I’m grateful to Emily P. Freeman.

I have never in my life needed a book at a particular time than I needed this one right now. Holy wow. An incredible practice and reminder.

This was a wonderful book from Emily P. Freeman. Full of heart and soul, it helped me slow down and think about so many things. I liked the short chapters - this allowed me to read one each morning like a devotional and then spend some time meditating on the ideas in it. This isn't a book of practical solutions (although she does have a few really practical ideas - I love her Life Energy List idea) so much as it is a guide to some spiritual practices that will help you get to know yourself more. I loved how she kept saying that the decision isn't really the point, but your growth as a person is. If you follow the concepts and ideas in this book, I think you will become a person more in touch with your soul, feelings, and desires, and someone who is able to make future decisions free of anxiety and regret.
